Spencer Herford

Spencer

Spencer was raised in Summit County, and like all kids from there was born with skis on his feet. He spent ten years in exile down in the Front Range working in marketing before smartening up and moving to Salida with his wife and dog.

Q. Where did you learn your love of bikes?
I came to bikes later in my life. I picked it up to have something to keep in shape during the summer when I wasn't skiing. The first time I realized how awesome mountain bikes are was midair while flying over my handlebars in Fruita. Scraped up with some bruised ribs, I laughed as I dusted myself off and realized how much fun I was having!
Q. How many bikes do you have?
A Pivot Switchblade and a banana yellow single speed townie bike I ride to work.
Q. What is your favorite local trail?
North Foose to South Foose Loop. Best parts of the Crest, no shuttle required!
Q. What is your favorite trail outside of Salida?
South Boundary Trail outside of Taos
Q. What is your favorite post-ride food?
Any sandwich from Sweeties
