If you're looking for a bike that is a little bit XC and a little bit rock n' roll, look no further than the Hei Hei. Our Race Light 6061 Aluminum frame has been perfectly designed to be fast and strong. A 120mm fork keeps things controlled on the front end while the rear shock provides 100mm of travel and keeps the back end in check. A 12-speed drivetrain is the perfect complement to powerful hydraulic disc brakes and keeps the Hei Hei at the forefront of the most-wanted aluminum XC steeds. KONA 6061 ALUMINUM Kona 7005 and 6061 Aluminum alloys are used extensively throughout our fleet of mountain and asphalt bicycles. A tough, durable, light alloy, both Kona 7005 and 6061 deliver fantastic, reliable performance that lasts for thousands of rides. Much of our 7005/6061 tubing is butted and/or formed, meaning the tubing's wall thickness can be increased or decreased, as well as shaped, so we can fine-tune a particular frame's strength and ride characteristics depending on its intended application. INTERNAL HEADSET Bearing cups are actually pressed into the frame and are easily removable. An internal headset also reduces stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are more adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible. TAPERED HEAD TUBE More girth at the bottom of the head tube better distributes shock force, prolonging the bearing life of the headset itself and eliminating brake shudder, while providing confident steering performance. The inherent strength of its triangular design also means a stronger steering position and improved balance, giving the rider more control in rough terrain. A zero-stack, tapered head tube also puts strength where the load is going—into the lower headset cup—maximizing bearing durability where it's needed. TUBELESS COMPATIBLE RIMS Tubeless rims allow for tires with more puncture resistance; the ability to run lower tire pressure, which provides better tire grip on the trail; lower rolling resistance; and weight savings over traditional tube and tire systems. 12x148mm AXLE 12x142mm, 12x148 and 12x157 rear axle standards provide two major advantages to the Kona rider: the 12mm diameter of the rear axle provides the rear hub and frame with a stiff interface, while the 142/148/157mm outer diameter of the hub allows the wheel to be quickly and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle is inserted. For 2017, you'll see the 12x148 Boost standard in the mix. Boost spacing provides more tire clearance at the chainstay yoke, while the rear wheel is stiffer and more durable relative to a 12x142 thru-axle. FUSE INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION The Fuse Independent Suspension is designed to be as lightweight and efficient as possible, oriented specifically for the demands of the modern XC trail rider. Like all of our suspension platforms, the Fuse IS is designed around a single pivot with a predictable leverage ratio for a responsive, snappy feel. Built for our Hei Hei platform, the frame features a seat stay that relies on small degrees of frame flex rather than a pivot at the seat and chainstay junction. The result is an efficient, laterally stiff suspension system that takes weight savings to a new level.

Its combination of modern geometry, a stiff lightweight carbon chassis, and 120mm of ultra-efficient dw-link travel means it's equally happy popping off bonus lines as it is crushing all-day epics. LONGER, SLACKER, STEEPER With its well bal­anced mod­ern geom­e­try, the Rip­ley is ready for any adven­ture. The long front end, slack head angle, and short rear end gives you the con­fi­dence to try new lines, while the steep seat tube angle and short­er-off­set fork make it easy to maneu­ver tech­ni­cal climbs and flowy singletrack. DW LINK Since 2005, we've part­nered with sus­pen­sion guru, Dave Weagle, on the dw-link sus­pen­sion plat­form. It pro­vides an unpar­al­leled com­bi­na­tion of climb­ing effi­cien­cy and down­hill per­for­mance, that has been proven repeat­ed­ly at the high­est lev­els of racing. LONG DROPPER POST We use names like small, medi­um, and large to describe our siz­ing because it's easy to under­stand, but our ultra-low standovers and clear­ance for long drop­pers give you the abil­i­ty to size based on reach. LIGHTWEIGHT PREMIUM CARBON, FOR EVERYONE Whether you order an XTR or NX kit, you'll get the same pre­mi­um car­bon fiber frame. All our bikes are built from the high­est grade mate­ri­als and opti­mized for the best strength, weight, stiff­ness, and ride per­for­mance. The Rip­ley weighs 5 lbs with­out the–shock. FORK OFFSET Some­times, short­er is bet­ter. Instead of the typ­i­cal 51mm off­set, the new Rip­ley uses a 44mm off­set. This gives you the sta­bil­i­ty of a slack­er head angle while retain­ing the BMX like feel of, well, a Ripley. 2.6" TIRE CLEARANCE We pio­neered the wide rim rev­o­lu­tion a few years ago and inspired a new crop of wider 2.4" – 2.6" tires. When paired togeth­er, this com­bo can be run at ultra-low pres­sures that pro­duce elbow-drag­ging cor­ner­ing trac­tion with­out sac­ri­fic­ing speed. REMOVABLE ISCG05 MOUNT There if you want it, remov­able if you don't. INTERNAL CABLE TUNNELS Inter­nal cable rout­ing used to be a pain in the ass, but our inter­nal tubes make rout­ing easy. Just pop the hous­ing through and it comes out the oth­er end, no need for swear words or a pickset. REPLACEABLE DOWNTUBE PROTECTOR Our remov­able poly­car­bon­ate skid plate pro­tects your down­tube from sharp pointy things.
