Paul enjoys walking, running, riding, sliding, and touring through hill and dale. When he's not soaking in cosmic rays and untangling his wind swept hair, you'll find him in the kitchen or on the river learning to channel his inner Spicoli.
Q. Where did you learn your love of bikes?
A. My mountain bike addiction began in Durango about a decade ago when I picked up a full rigid, singlespeed Salsa El Mariachi. It was all I could afford at the time, but I loved the simplicity and challenge of it. Coming from a trail running background, the bike allowed me to go further, faster, and discover trails in a new way.
Q. How many bikes do you have?
A. I currently own three bikes - my new Pivot Les SL is a lot of fun! I also have a Surly Karate Monkey built out as a bikepacking rig, and a Trek Madone road bike.
Q. What is your favorite local trail?
A. I enjoy riding up Bear Creek to Rainbow and then down Gutz or Pot of Gold.
Q. What is your favorite trail outside of Salida?
A. Stretches of the Colorado Trail are fantastic, and I'm fond of backcountry hike-a-biking on obscure trails.
Q. What is your favorite post-ride food?
A. Anything of substance that is delicious and nutritious? Burritos, fries, pizza, and beer usually hit the spot.
