Andrew Sayers

Q. Where did you learn your love of bikes?
A. Growing up I raced BMX and spent weekends jumping curbs and building jumps with my friends. After a time away from bikes in high school I found mountain biking in college and eventually started racing.

Q. How many bikes do you have?
A. Two. A CHUMBA Stella steel single speed and a CHUMBA Terlingua Steel gravel bike. Metal bikes are cool. I had a geared mountain bike, but I decided I would like to dedicate more time to single speeding as it has a special place in my heart -- don't judge me -- contrary to popular belief there are amazing trails to ride here single speed... they are just steep and at elevation so it seems more difficult.

Q. What is your favorite local trail?
A. Tour of Cottonwood Loop in town and the Alpine Tunnel just outside of town (still considered local).

Q. What is your favorite trail outside of Salida?
A. In Texas the Cameron Park Trails are top of my list. Here in Colorado I dig the long, hard, high alpine single track of the Colorado Trail -- most segments are so rugged and diverse and have amazing views.

Q. What is your favorite post-ride food?
A. Sweety's Salida Serenade... If you know, you know.
