Bike Sizing Service
If you’re not ready to invest in a BG Fit we also offer a Bike Sizing Service. Every new bike that is purchased from Absolute Bikes includes a complementary Sizing, which is a simplified, six step process to ensure that you are comfortable on your bike. This service can also be purchased for $50 if you already have a bike and need some help adjusting it for your body.
During a Sizing we set saddle height and fore/aft, handle bar position, and adjust the suspension (as well as educate you on how to adjust it). A Sizing can also be a very useful tool for determining exactly which size bike you need when you find yourself between two sizes. We can also do quick Sizings when you are test riding bikes. With your position set consistently on each bike you test you can then focus on the qualities of each bike, rather than differences in your body position on the different bikes.
Suspension Setup Services
We also offer Basic and Advanced Suspension Setup Services. We know a lot about bicycle suspension and love educating our clients about it. Suspension technology is amazing these days but it takes knowledge and experience to get the most performance from it. Either the Basic or the Advanced Suspension Setup Services are a perfect complement to a BG Fit – but they are also extremely valuable as stand-alone services. Basic Suspension Setup service costs $50, and Advanced costs $275.
The Basic Suspension Setup service begins with adjustments to your bike’s suspension in a static position – you are sitting on the bike but not riding it. We take the time to explain all the settings so that they are set up correctly for your weight and riding style – and you understand what functions they serve. Sitting on your bike in a shop is a good start, but if you really want to make sure your suspension performs at its best in real world riding conditions then you should consider our Advanced Suspension Setup service.
For this Advanced Suspension Setup, we make the static adjustments but then it’s time to start riding and really learning! We have access to an amazing trail network right out the back door and for the Advanced service we do 2-3 hours of riding and bracket testing on each of the suspension adjustments. By the time we get back to the shop we guarantee that your suspension will be setup correctly for you and your riding style, you will be confident using all the features of your bike’s suspension, and you’ll have a huge smile on your face.
BG Bike Fit FAQ
What is “Body Geometry”?
Body Geometry is a product of countless hours of research by Specialized and their team of extremely knowledgeable bike fitters and medical professionals. The major difference you will notice between BG Fit and other fit services is the very comprehensive Pre-Fit Assessment. No other fit service on the market offers such a personalized experience.
What should I bring with me to a BG Fit?
Obviously your bike is necessary to perform a bike fit. If possible, dropping your bike off early will save a lot of setup time, and allow us to get right to work as soon as you show up for your appointment. We understand that if you’re coming from out of town this may not be possible, but feel free to bring it by hours, or even days, before your appointment. We’ll take good care of it.
In addition to your bike, you will also need your cycling shoes and clothing. A bike fit is a good time to think about replacing those old beat-up shoes, or worn out chamois. However, you will be barefoot (socks are fine) for much of your Pre-Fit Assessment.
How long does the BG Fit process take?
What sets a Body Geometry Fitting apart from other fit services is the very thorough Pre-Fit Assessment. This process is necessary to insure that we understand your unique body, background, and goals before we get on the bike and start adjusting things. Once on your bike, we will spend as much time as needed to make sure we get it just right. The average time from start to finish is approximately 3 hours, but can vary from 2-4 hours.
What is the Pre-Fit Assessment?
This is a series of tests, and questions, that evaluate various aspects of your unique physiology such as range of motion, flexibility and core strength. These assessments are also designed to discover any limitations that could potentially need to be addressed on the bike. Your fitter will explain everything thoroughly, and demonstrate if necessary, so that you are as comfortable as possible. Wearing comfortable, non-restrictive clothing is highly recommended. Your cycling kit works perfectly for this.
When I leave am I done?
The human body is always changing and adapting. Included in the cost of your BG Fit is a follow up appointment which is intended to see how you have adapted to the changes we made. This is also an opportunity to address any questions/concerns you might have. We want you to be completely satisfied with your experience. Never hesitate to call or email your fitter. We also email all of the info and data from your bike fit directly to you for your records, and we also keep records on file here at the shop.
What if I have another bike, or purchase a new bike?
We offer a fitting on a second bike for an additional $50, so go ahead and bring your second bike with you, or set up another appointment with your fitter for the second bike. For returning fit customers we offer a Loyalty Bike Fitting for $150. This is a great option for customers who have had a fit in the past, but it’s been a few years. Other reasons to consider an all new fit include, but are not limited to, new riding goals or to compensate for physiological changes following an injury/surgery.
